[va-bird] Harvey's Knob, Va. Aug. Report
- From: Tadcipiter@xxxxxxx
- To: Birdhawk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Va-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx,seth@xxxxxxxx
- Date: Sun, 1 Sep 2002 19:21:57 EDT
This is the first posting for Harvey's Knob for
the 2002 season. Our plan was to begin coverage
8/15 but weather has been a factor throughout
the last two weeks. The Knob has been socked in
about half of that time with fog and/or low ceiling.
While what rainfall we have gotten has been a
welcome relief, it has not been conducive to good
early hawk flights. Today, 8/31, was the first day
we have had a double figure day counting.
8/31 Season Total
Osprey 4 8
Bald Eagle 1 4
Sharp-shinned 0 1
Cooper's 0 1
Broad-winged 5 10
Red-tailed 0 2
A. Kestrel 0 2
Total 10 28
Harvey's Knob is located on the Blue Ridge
Parkway in Botetourt Co. at milepost 94.5
