I visited Craney this morning. The shorebird numbers have decreased a lot.
There are still 5 BLACK-NECKED STILTS and 24 AMERICAN AVOCETS at the west
pool in the middle impoundment. There was a adult WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER
with LEAST, SEMIPALMATED, and WESTERN SANDPIPERS in the small pool at the
northeast corner of the north impoundment. The white-rump was vocal several
times (sounds a little like a mouse squeaking). The lower part of the
northern slope of the north impoundment has been mowed, but there were no
"grasspipers".
