Rich - you beat me to the punch,
The Virginiia Birding & Wildlife Trail does indeed designate sites that are
handicapped accessible. If you don't have a hard copy available - please go to
http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wildlife/vbwt/index.asp - Site amenities & access
are shown in graphic format.
Thanks

All - Paul's post raises a good point that many birders may not think about.
It sent me to the VA Birding and Wildlife trail guides where sites accessible
to the disabled are tagged w. the familiar wheelchair sign. In northern VA,
Huntley Meadows, Chinquapin Park,Theodore Roosevelt Island, Potomoc Overlook
Regional Park, Dora Kelley Park, Long Branch, Burke Lake, Ellanor C. Lawrence,
Bull Run Regional Park, Manassas ( I would imagine that all the national
parks/forests have to be somewhat accessible under the American w. Disabilities
Act),
Pohick Bay, and Mason Neck are all listed as wheelchair accessible.
Hope this helps!
