I'm posting the message below for Terry Jenkins:

Bob I am not on the bird line since I use my school system e-mail but I saw
your e-mail on birdingonthe.net.
I had no trouble getting on the base Monday at 9am.The guards were all very
friendly and knew exactly what I meant when I said I was going to look for a
bird. They even knew it was a Brown Booby and how long it had been since one
had been seen in Virginia.
After finding the bird I too realized you might be able to see the bird better
from First Landing so I went over there and asked the camp ground personnel if
I was allowed to drive into the campground and walk up the boardwalk that is
right in front of the pound nets where the Booby sits. I was told that only
registered campers are allowed in that area, but that I could park in the
Visitor Center Parking lot and walk down the beach from there. I was not
charged any fee to do this. I did not walk down the beach but sat my scope up
on the boardwalk right to the east of the Visitors Center and could easily spot
the bird from there.
If you want to post this info on the birdline please feel free to do so.
Thanks Terry Jenkins
