[va-bird] Craney Island, Portsmouth

I visited Craney Island this morning. There were WILLETS in the north
impoundment warning of a RED FOX that was walking through the impoundment
(which was dry for the most part). DOLPHINS were seen off the west side of
Craney. Both BLACK-NECKED STILTS and AMERICAN AVOCETS were present at the
northwest corner of the south impoundment. A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was
swimming along in the west side of the middle impoundment. Both NORTHERN
SHOVELER and BLUE-WINGED TEAL were seen in singles at the middle
impoundment. A lot of the usual birds were present, but in lower numbers.
Rain has prevented the impiundments from completely drying up, but there is
not a lot of water at Craney.
Ruth Beck logged the AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN last week at the office.
