The pilings where the Brown Booby has been seen the last few days is actually 
right on the boundary of Fort Story and First Landing State Park.  Those 
pilings can be seen toward the east from the beach and campground section of 
the park.  There is a fee for using that section of the park, parking is 
limited, and a walk to the east to view the pilings is required.  But it is a 
public area and is an alternative to accessing the Fort.  I haven't tried 
looking for the booby via the park.  If I do, I'll report what I find.  If 
someone else gives it a try, I hope they'll post their resulrs.
