[va-bird] Brown Booby

I hadn't been online for two days until mid-afternoon yesterday. I saw the
report of the Brown Booby at Ft Story (just a few miles down the road from
where I am in Virginia Beach) and rushed out to try to see it. I arrived
between 3:30 and 4 pm (I must have just missed you, Adam). Everyone's
directions on VA-Bird were very helpful (you can actually take the boardwalk to
the Tiki Bar from the Cape Henry Inn or the Ft Story Club - I think it may be a
shorter walk and definitely closer parking from the club). I scanned the
pilings and located the bird among the pelicans and cormorants on the far
right. Like Brenda, I noted the yellow feet, brown upperparts and lighter
belly. The bill just looked gray to me but the light conditions worsened
while I was there. I thought it looked about the same size as the cormorants.
By 4:30 pm the viewing was getting difficult as the sun was reflecting off the
water around the pilings.
It was an unexpected life-bird on a Sunday afternoon!
