Northern Virginia Birders,

The August 06 Birding Calendar has been published. Find a link to the  
Calendar on the BIRD WALKS page of the Birding Northern Virginia web

The Birding Northern Virginia  web site is being developed to expand  
the online birding space available to new birders and others in  
Northern Virginia. This past month:

The architecture of the web site has been upgraded and reformatted.

Links to Grasshopper Sparrow, Merlin, Osprey, Peregrine Falcon, & Red- 
tailed Hawk Galleries have been added to the site's WELCOME Page.  
Links to Guest Contributor Galleries have also been added.

A BIRDING 101 page has been added to the site for the benefit of new  
birders.

Health & Comfort links have been added to the BIRD WALKS page. Also,  
you may notice that links to a set of online Birder's Notes are being  
added to this page. Once completed, these notes are intended to be a  
kind of online orientation for new Northern Virginia birders and others.

Preliminary online birding notes for 22 Northern Virginia birding  
venues have been added to the BIRDING VENUES page. [These notes are  
still being developed. Lots of work yet to be done here.]

A Birding Glossary has been added to the site.

Believe me, this site continues to be a work in progress. Besides  
continuing to refine content that is already running on the site, I  
will be adding new content just as quickly as it can be developed. If  
things go as planned, the Birding Northern Virginia web site will  
begin "pod casting," sometime in October. More on this later.

Any Northern Virginia birder may contact me offline with constructive  
suggestions on ways that this site may be improved. Among other  
things, this site is intended to be a resource for new birders and  
birders without a specific club or group affiliation.
