[va-bird] Fairfax Co: Waynewood kites Monday 8 August

Between 1600 and 1700 EDT Monday afternoon, 8 August, I enjoyed several
sightings (2 to 10+ minutes each) of a soaring (often kiting) single
Mississippi Kite in the vicinity of the Carl Sandburg Middle School
(Fort Hunt Road, SE Fairfax County).  I had good views (through
binoculars and, at times, a scope) from the corner of Ft Hunt Road and
Waynewood Blvd.  The bird(s?) occasionally dove on prey, and a couple of
times when it seemed to succeed it descended and was lost from sight
behind intervening trees.   Shortly before 5 PM, two birds were in the
air at the same time S of the school and W of Fort Hunt Road.
