I checked Cameron Run for shorebirds late Sunday morning (7 August 2005)
between 1035 and 1120 EDT. From Bluestone Rd, I went W along the bike
path to the outflow from "Lake Cook" and then downstream to where the
channel turns under the Beltway bridge. Scoped the channel, banks, sand
bars, and dams. 27-28 C; hazy sunshine; calm; high tide at Alexandria
1023 EDT;
Mallard 6
Great Blue Heron 1
Great Egret 1
Green Heron 6
Killdeer 17
Greater Yellowlegs 5
Lesser Yellowlegs 9
Semipalmated Sandpiper 9
Least Sandpiper 6
Short-billed Dowitcher 2 (ad, hendersoni)
Ring Billed Gull 23
