FreeLists / va-bird / [va-bird] Sedge Wren update & large flock of Killdeer

Made it over to Rt. 876 - Glebe School Road where I ran into William 
Leigh.  By 9 a.m. he had seen and heard the one wren near the red gate 
located in back corner of the field.  (The fence line forms a 
triangle.)  Ken Hinkle and Tom Mizell arrived but the wrens remained silent 
and out-of-sight.
At approximately 11:50 a.m. as I was heading back I make a quick stop.  One 
wren made a brief appearance, flying up to fence on far back side and it 
was carrying either food or nesting material!  It then flew a short 
distance to within the triangular-sectioned off field, quickly disappearing 
in the tall brush.

A few short feet up Glebe School Road a single Loggerhead Shrike was 
observed throughout the morning.

Continuing up Glebe School Road there is a large brick home atop a 
hill.  Along this hill William Leigh and I observed an incredible "cloud" 
of circling Killdeer.  They settled back down over the hillside below the 
hilltop home.  I stopped counting at 72 and there were still plenty more 
further back toward the river.  Everywhere I looked there were 
killdeer.  This was by far the largest flock of Killdeer I recall ever 
seeing at any one time!  Quite impressive!!!
