[va-bird] First day of Fall in the bird world

Hello all
Today here in Augusta County it did not feel like the first day of fall at all 
with temps. up in the 80's. But as we all know it is fall to the birds that 
have started to migrate. Today I found a few that were in migration or 
dispersal from their breeding grounds . Below is a partial list of birds seen 
today .

Swoope area Rt. 707 ( Livick Rd. )
N. Harrier -- 3 possible family group ( Brenda Tekin had 3 birds Yesterday on 7 
-- 31 & we hosted a female all summer )
Bobwhite -- 2 ( pair ) & one heard 
Red Headed Woodpecker -- 2 Imm.
Yellow Warbler -- 2 juv
Savannah Sparrow --- 10 +
Grasshopper -- 1 adult & 5 juv
Bobolink -- 8 + all juv.

Smith's Pond 
G B Heron -- 12
Great Egret -- 1
Wood Duck -- 11 mostly juv. but able to fly
Blue -- winged Teal -- 1
Solitary Sandpiper -- 1 & one at Riley's Pond 
Spotted Sandpiper -- 2
Least Sandpiper -- 1
Pectoral Sandpiper -- 1 juv.

Glebe School Rd. Rt. 876
G B Heron -- 1
Sedge Wrens -- 2 heard the possible 3rd bird 
Cliff & Barn Swallow's 

Quillen's
Great Egret -- 1
Spotted Sandpiper -- 2

McCune's 
G B Heron -- 2

Not a bad day of birding on a hot & muggy day . Happy fall birding to all.
