Greetings All,
Among the 50 + bird species Mitchell Byrd and I found at Hog Island
Wildlife Management Area in Surry County August 13 were 1 White Pelican, 3
Tri-colored Herons, 2 Upland Sandpipers, 1 White-rumped Sandpiper, and more
than 100 Pectoral Sandpipers. A half dozen Semiplamated Plovers and
Short-billed Dowitchers were among the pectorals.
Along the main road were Yellow-throated Warbler, many gnatcatchers,
Orchard Oriole, and a very active contingent of Blue Grosbeaks.
