[va-bird] YOUNG EAGLE GANG

Today, 7/24/07 from 0845 to 0915 observed a gang of young eagles feeding
on a sheep carcass in the Blue Grass Valley. The group included three
bald eagle hatch-year birds, one second year bald AND a hatch year
golden eagle. Last year I and others started seeing gangs of young
eagles the last week of July. The Highland Eagle Survey continued
receiving reports of eagle groups through 9/29/06. On that day I also
observed a hatch-year golden eagle with several young bald eagles. Did
get some documentary photos today. They are not great photos, but
definitely show the full broad white band on the bird's tail and its
dark head. The black band on the bottom of the tail was very clear in
binoculars, but not so clear in photo.
