A very quick visit to Chincoteague was a pleasant break from inn-keeping and
errands. Bob Anderson and Thuy Tran picked me up in Cape Charles, and we
spent the afternoon mosly on the Wildlife Loop. No Little Stint or Red-necked
Stint, alas (and very few peep due to high water levels, but beautiful young
juvenile terns included Forster's (5), Gull-billed (2), and Sandwich
(1). Temperature about 88 degrees, breezy. [Forster's also raised young in the
marsh near
Lake Foster in Cape Charles (and were feeding them last weekend on the new
tarmac at Marina Villages East), and Gull-billeds have also been foraging at
these
new man-made lakes in Cape Charles.]
