[va-bird] Red-breasted Nuthatch (Lynchburg 7/15)

This morning on returning from a morning walk in the neighborhood with the
dog I heard a Red-breasted Nuthatch calling high in a White Oak tree in the
neighbor's yard. While my daughter retrieved a pair of binoculars from the
house I spotted it, and then with the binoculars was able to get a visual
confirmation on the ID before it flew into a small patch of White Pines in
our yard. According to "The Birds of Lynchburg Virginia and Vicinity" this
is our first July record in the area. We have two previous August records
(8/7/86 in Amherst Co. just outside Lynchburg and 8/31/99 in Lynchburg).
When you don't have time to get out to the birds it is nice when they come
to you!
