[va-bird] least bitterns at Neabso Creek

I saw two least bitterns at the marsh on Neabsco Creek yesterday (7/7)
morning,in Woodbridge, Prince William County VA. The marsh can be
viewed from Neabsco Rd. just before the entrance to Leesylvania SP. I
have always suspected that least bitterns resided in the marsh. It
seems perfect habitat. As usual with this species, it just took a
little patience and a lot of luck. Both birds flew out of the tall
grass (cattails, I think) and flew into the lower vegetation closer to
the open water.

I also stopped by Metz wetlands, and found it to be quite birdy.
Nothing unusual, but lots of activity. Some of the species I saw were
blue grosbeak, indigo bunting, purple martin, rough-winged swallow,
white-eyed vireo, great egret, osprey, brown thrasher, catbird, house
wren, carolina wren, blue-gray gnatcatcher, eastern phoebe, eastern
kingbird, orchard oriole, white-breasted nuthatch, and field sparrow.

I apologize if you get this message twice. My e-mail service is having
problems and initial indications are the first did not get sent.
