Along the same lines (no pun intended), yesterday my husband and I took a
canoeing/fishing trip on the Rappahannock River near Fredericksburg. I, too,
didn't have my binos, and was distracted by a number of chunky Smallmouth and
Rock Bass, but among the birds seen/heard were:
Great Blue Heron
Green Heron
Turkey Vulture
Red-Shouldered Hawk
Bald Eagle
Canada Goose
Mallard
Mourning Dove
Chimney Swift
Belted Kingfisher
Acadian Flycatcher
Eastern Kingbird
Red-Eyed Vireo
White-Eyed Vireo
Blue Jay
American Crow
Carolina Wren
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Eastern Bluebird
Wood Thrush
Northern Parula
Ovenbird
Scarlet Tanager
Indigo Bunting
Baltimore Oriole
Northern Cardinal
American Goldfinch
