[va-bird] binoculars

Hello all,
I am new to the area and I am looking to buy some mid-range binoculars
(cost-wise, that is). Anybody have any suggestions on where I could go to find
some good binos? Also, I want to feel them in my hand before buying, so please
don't suggest an online retailer. Any help is greatly appreciated.
