Howdy all,
The last two days have been completely dead at the banding station. It
appears that migration is winding down here. We only managed to catch a total
of 10
birds for the two days. And only two were possible migrants. So this has left
us time to find other things to hold our interest.
Totals for 5/31:
Magnolia Warbler 1
Acadian Flycatcher 1
Carolina Chickadee 1 a baby
Pine Warbler 1
Carolina Wren 1 another baby
Dogs off a leash 4
Bicyclist 2
Man jogging by without pants or shorts on (only T-shirt and shoes) 1
N.Watersnakes at one time 7
Number of times an Osprey with a very large fish circled the banding station
5
TOTAL # OF BIRDS BANDED 5
Totals for 6/1:
Pine Warbler 1 a baby
Carolina Chickadee 1 another baby
Great Crested Flycatcher 1
Brown Thrasher 1
Common Grackle 1
Dogs off a leash 3
Bicyclist 1
# of deerflies killed in 30 seconds 7
How many lifer birds Jethro could get in CA that are year-round resident
13
How many licks to get to the center of a tootie-pop ???
I'll never tell!!
TOTAL # OF BIRDS BANDED 5
Geez, I sure hope we catch more than 5 tomorrow!!
Maybe the up coming rain will help out some.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
