[va-bird] Red-winged Blackbird v. Tricolored Blackbird

Folks-
I just got a call from a California birder who was rather convinced she
had a Tricolored Blackbird nesting near a pond in Yorktown. So, I told her
to try and get a picture, but that it would be unlikely (to say the
least?). In the meantime, I was just curious how much overlap in color
there would be with these two species, not having seen a real live
Tricolored before. It looked from the books and photos that a little
genetic jiggery-pokery could make 'em look a lot alike.
Thanks
