[va-bird] Loft Mtn 6/13/05

My wife Sandy and I spent about 90 minutes around noon today at Loft
Mountain's Frazier Discovery Trail (Mile Post 79.5 on the Skyline
Drive--about 15 miles south of Swift Run Gap).
The most surprising bird was Dark-eyed Junco (several).
Other birds included:
House Wren (1--nesting in the post that holds up the "Service Road-Do
Not Enter" sign next to the Information Center)
Chipping Sparrow (1)
Turkey Vulture (1)
Redstart (10+)
Ovenbird (4)
Hooded Warbler (4)
Red-eyed Vireo (4)
Blue-headed Vireo (1)
Black-and-white Warbler (1)
Scarlet Tanager (2)
Wood Thrush (1)
Veery (heard 2)
Cedar Waxwing (2)
Indigo Bunting (4)
Towhee (10+)
Gray Catbird (10+)
Robin (1)
Wood Pewee (heard 1)
