We just got home from our spring weekend in Chincoteague.  Highlights of the
trip were Yellow crowned Night Heron (1 on S. Main St), Whimbrel (1 in Tom's
Cove), Black necked Stilt (2 in the refuge and 4 on the causeway), Common
Loon (2) and Red throated Loon (1), both in Tom's Cove and not in breeding
plummage, Piping Plover, Least Tern and Black Skimmer at Tom's Cove and 1
Common Nighthawk at the old visitor center.  A side trip to Saxis yielded
several Seaside Sparrows, Saltmarsh Sharp tailed Sparrow (1 found about 1/2
mile east of the fish processing station just before the town of Saxis) and
a male Northern Harrier at Annis Point.
