Gentle Readers,
John Perry, Mary Floyd, and Gene Keefe led a group of 12 birders Monday
morning, 6/14/2004, at Huntley Meadows Park. It is clear that spring migration
has ended and that summer has begun. The early summer residents including the
Yellow-billed Cuckoo are here. Wood Ducks, Mallards, and Canada Geese are
about to turn loose their young chicks, now near adults. An immature Osprey
did an excellent imitation of a harrier fishing for about twenty minutes near
the Tower yesterday morning.
