[va-bird] Forecast for this weekend

The winds currently are out of the northwest and fairly light, but the
forecast (after the rain comes through) is for northeasterly winds, shifting to
east
over the weekend, probably southeast by Sunday. If the winds get up to,
say, 15+ knots for any length of time on the coast, I would think that at least
a
few shearwaters (Sooty, Greater, maybe a few Cory's) might be seen from
Chincoteague, Back Bay, or northeastern Virginia Beach beaches, with maybe a
Wilson's Storm-Petrel or a jaeger or two thrown in. A scope is usually needed
to
see these birds from shore, along with plenty of time. Shearwater migration
is relatively brief (late May and early June) here, so it's a good time to get
out and take a look at the sea. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, being more
recessed from the ocean, is usually much less productive than the outer
beaches for this sort of thing.
