[va-bird] Huntley Meadows, no kites

All,
Greg and I waited on the boardwalk at Huntley Meadows from 10:30 until
12:30 but we did not see any Mississippi Kites. Now that the sun is
coming out, they are probably soaring away! Other interesting sightings
- two separate Hooded Merganser hens with young. One had two and one
had five. This brought up an interesting question. What do you call
young mergansers? Merganserlings? Just wondering. Anyway, there were
also 4 Great Egrets, two groups of Mallard ducklings, several Great Blue
Herons flew over, many Tree and Barn Swallows and one Northern
Rough-winged Swallow. Others reported a Cliff Swallow but I did not see
it. And then the singers - Common Yellowthroat, Eastern Phoebe, Acadian
Flycatcher, and probably some more that I'm forgetting about.
Sue
