[va-bird] Northern Warren Co. - Shrike, etc.

I went to check on the Shrike I found 5/24. The bird was still there (at the
same spot where Rob Simpson had found the 2 Cattle
Egrets earlier). After 40 minutes of hoping he would lead me to a nest, I caved
in and left (although I assume there is a female on
a nest somewhere nearby).
Another treat, at the same spot, was a male Kestrel entering a Natural cavity,
where I seldom find them (large hole in a tall snag,
in open country across the pasture). It's nice to see them using one of their
"historically preferred" nest sites.
Bobolinks are still quite active at a number of spots to the West of the river
(great areas this year, but I assume many will be
mowed soon) - only singing males were seen/heard.
Nest hunting at the low-water bridge north of Front Royal (CR 624) was minimal,
as the bridge was flooded=road closed. NW side:
Warbling Vireos abound - beyond the 2 nests we found Sunday, I'm sure at least
3-5 more nests are within "earshot range" of the
road.
Nice night to be about.
