[va-bird] Dyke Marsh

Thirteen souls braved heavy winds to join the Friends of Dyke Marsh walk this
morning. Nothing unexpected but the numbers of species and birds were
relatively low -- but OK for a 'winter' day!
Double-crested Cormorant (about 20)
Great Blue Heron (at least 12)
Black Vulture (1)
Turkey Vulture (3)
Canada Goose (8)
Wood Duck (2)
Mallard (about 30)
Osprey (3)
Red-tailed Hawk (1 adult)
Spotted Sandpiper (1)
Ring-billed Gull (1 immature)
Rock Dove (5)
Mourning Dove (6)
Chimney Swift (12)
Red-bellied Woodpecker (4)
Downy Woodpecker (2)
Northern Flicker (3)
Pileated Woodpecker (1)
Eastern Wood-Pewee (2)
Great Crested Flycatcher (1)
Eastern Kingbird (3)
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
[Warbling Vireo - a snatch of song, garbled by the wind, but in the right
place, might well have been this species]
