I always enjoy reading peoples' reports about their yardbirds. Roger, what
wonderful birds!

Here's the latest word from our garden....babies! We have babies galore
here. The fox kits are growing nicely and charging around after mom and
pop. Bird babies of many species are flying about, somewhat out of control
on occasion, as they earn their "wings."

The BIG news is Pileated babies!!! Over the last few days we've watched as
our pair of Pileateds, Mrs. P and Klutzy, brought their children to our
feeders. We've seen 1 male and 2 female younguns so far, so this year has
gone better for Mrs. P and Klutzy. Last year we saw only a single male
young Pileated, Klutzy Jr., as we called him. Yesterday I watched as
Klutzy and his 2 daughters clung to the side of our giant White Oak
tree. Klutzy fed suet to each of his daughters. What an endearing sight
they made! Klutzy and Mrs. are looking a tad worn and ragged from their
parenting duties, something I can relate to indeed.
