[va-bird] Wild Turkey at Huntley hike-bike trail

Observations like these are becoming more commonplace. Nonetheless, I was
thrilled today (5 June) to flush a Wild Turkey hen at about 6:45 AM in the
first meadow along the Hike-Bike Trail at Huntley Meadows. She did not appear
to have poults with her.
Five flyover Purple Martins also were a treat. The usual suspects were in
evidence- Indigo Buntings, Common yellowthroats, E. Towhees have all commenced
breeding. However, there still seems to be a short supply of yellow-billed
Cuckoos- only two today. An Eastern Wood-Pewee in the Woodcock meadow makes me
wonder if some aren't still on the move- generally this species seems to
confine its breeding attempts to the North marsh.
Well, off to Dyke Marsh tomorrow to continue the breeding bird survey, then
back to shift work friday through Monday. UGH!
