At about 10:30 this morning (6/04) I saw a single adult MISSISSIPPI
KITE soaring above the tree line over the woods leading from the visitors'
center to the beginning of the boardwalk of Huntley Meadows Park.
Remarkable also were a male BLUE GROSBEAK behind the observation
tower and three families of WOOD DUCKS. One female was traveling with seven
large youngsters, one female was followed by 5 smaller young, and a third
had 12 small young in tow. All three were visible at the same time. There
were also large numbers of GREAT EGRETS (24) and GREAT BLUE HERONS (9).
