[va-bird] Pelagic trip possibility

We have two spaces left on a small 6-person pelagic trip that would depart
Rudee Inlet, Virginia Beach, on Tuesday, 4 June 2002. The cost per person is
$200 (which is the going rate for these trips: a full-day charter is $1200),
plus a modest tip for the mate, perhaps $15 per person. This is a nonprofit
trip, except for the captain and mate.
The spring migration of seabirds off eastern North Carolina has been strong
in the past two weeks, with large numbers of shearwaters, a few Manx
included, all three storm-petrels, Fea's, Bermuda, Herald, and Black-capped
Petrels, all three jaegers, multiple South Polar Skuas, and both Red-billed
and White-tailed Tropicbirds. We would hope to see some of this, and there
has been some very warm water at the Norfolk Canyon in recent days, which
might bring in a few Gulf-Stream-associated seabirds.
If interested, please reply by this afternoon or early evening to
ensifera@xxxxxxx --
Thanks,
Ned Brinkley
