VABIRDers,
I lead a few intrepid birders looking for birds in Shenandoah NP today,
starting from the Panaroma parking lot where VA 211 crosses the parkway south
to Big Meadows. Highlight was a pair of Brown Creepers along the Limberlost
Trail, at least one of which was singing. The location was in the Hemlock
area, where the trail crosses the stream via a bridge. I really love the
song of this species!
We also spotted an adult Broad-winged Hawk near the Stony Man area as well as
many Veerys, Chestnut-sideds, a pair of Black-throated Greens, Cerulean, many
Am. Redstarts, some Hoodeds and a Canada Warbler. The statistics follow.
