A Cooper's Hawk became bird number 1526 to set a new season record today,
May 1st, at College Creek Hawkwatch. The strong southeast wind produced a
modest flight of just 8 other birds: 2 Bald Eagles, 4 Turkey Vultures and 2
Sharp-shinned Hawks. The April total of 593 is the highest over the 11
seasons.
There are still 3+ weeks left in the season and it is prime time for kites.

College Creek Hawkwatch is located on the James River near Williamsburg and
is a program of Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory.
