Greetings to all:
On Saturday morning May 06, 2006 after trying to find some migrating
warblers, I gave up and went to Runt Powell's farm on Wolf Trap Road in
Halifax Co. to look for Mississippi Kites.
Just after parking and setting up my window mounted scope, I had a kite in
view. It was an adult and was able to follow it for over 8 minutes before
it went out of sight. This is the same location were I first found them in
1998.
After about 10 minutes of seeing the kite, I spotted an adult Bald Eagle on
the ground being attacked by a crow. The eagle soon took flight and circle
around and within a few minutes flew directly over my head.
I was hoping for a HAT TRICK by seeing three white headed raptors in the
same location and looked for over an hour for an Osprey but one didn't show
up although I have seen one from this location several times.
