VA-Birders,

My company moved in to a new office in December, located on Rock Landing Drive
in the Oyster Point Business Park of Newport News. Behind our building and the
others on our side of the road is a drainage canal, and across that canal is a
field.

In the past few days we've had interesting visitors to the canal, the most
noteworthy being a SOLITARY SANDPIPER. It's been here for at least three days.
Feeding next to it today was a LESSER YELLOWLEGS. Yesterday two NORTHERN
ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS flew the length of the canal; a GREAT EGRET and GREAT
BLUE HERON like to hang out there as well. Our resident CANADA GEESE have been
busy watching over their goslings .

In the field I've heard and seen INDIGO BUNTING, COMMON YELLOW-THROAT and
CAROLINA WREN.

I find myself taking a lot more breaks at work during these days to check out
what new treasures I may discover "out back"!

If you'd like directions to the spot, you can email me offline.
