FreeLists / va-bird / [va-bird] Swainson's thrush, blackpoll warbler, Leesylvania State Park

A 1 hour visit to Leesylvania State Park's Powell's Creek trail starting about 
10:30 this morning yielded a bunch of migrants.  Warblers were active along 
much of the trail, mostly yellow-rumps.  Others inlcuded blackpoll, northern 
parula, black-throated blue, black-throated green, blue-winged, american 
redstart, worm-eating, hooded, black-and-white, louisiana waterthrush, and 
ovenbird.  The woods also contained many thrushes.  Most were wood, but also 
present were 5 veery, 2 Swainson's, and a hermit.  Only the wood thrushes were 
singing.  Other birds along the trail were scarlet tanager, rose-breasted 
grosbeak, baltimore oriole, eastern kingbird, great crested flycatcher, and 
acadian flycather.  I also heard a warbling vireo along Neabsco Rd. adjacent to 
Metz Wetlands.
