Virginia Birders,
My wife Michelle and I, along with Frank Kilgore, enjoyed a hike up
Virginia's 5th highest peak on Sunday. We covered about 10 miles and found
some high-altitude breeders in the Spruce forest on top of the mountain. We
spotted Winter Wrens, both Kinglets, Juncos, BT-Green Warblers, Red-breasted
Nuthatches, and Common Ravens. The Ruby-crowned Kinglet was a surprise and
I guess it will be heading north soon.
For those intersted here is a link to a few hike pictures and a couple
pictures of a singing Winter Wren that put on a show for us.
