VA Birders,
I spent several hours at Fort C.F. Smith Park in Arlington this
afternoon, Sunday, May 1. About 6:15 pm, after Betty Kilgore and a friend of
hers had
joined me at our Bird Stream, a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER suddenly appeared and took
a bath there. Earlier in the afternoon, I saw my first BLACK-AND-WHITE
WARBLER of the year in the park. Other new arrivals in the park today were a
GRAY
CATBIRD and 2 SAVANNAH SPARROWS. Other highlights were 2 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS
and the adule male ORCHARD ORIOLE, which came and bathed about 4:30 pm.
In my previous postings, I neglected to mention that we had a flock of
CEDAR WAXWINGS at Fort Smith on both April 27 & 29.
Good birding,
Val Kitchens
Arlington, VA
