[va-bird] Mason Neck walk for 1 May

One only person joined me for a miserable, rainy walk at Mason Neck National
Wildlife Refuge and State Park. The trail leading from Gunston Road to the
Great Marsh yielded a dozen Yellow-rumps, a singing Chipping Sparrow and
singing Pine Warbler (nice contrast comparing the songs), and a Great Crested
Flycatcher in the parking lot and the trail itself yielded one Magnolia and one
Hooded Warbler (heard not seen). Anchorage Road (restricted access) yielded a
Scarlet Tanager while a singing Chipper and a nesting Yellow-throated Warbler
were observed in the open meadow at the end of Anchorage. After the wind
picked up, we couldn't find a thing, not even a Prothonotary in the marsh to
the left of the Visitor's Center at the State Park.
Mason Neck is in Fairfax County.
