[va-bird] 05/04/04 - Monticello Park migrants

Sorry for the late post, but my email has been down for a few days.
I stopped by MONTICELLO PARK (Alexandria, VA) Tuesday after work from
6:45pm-7:30pm. Very little activity on the left path, but on the right
(more "dangerous") path I found treasures!
The HIGHLIGHT for me: Having never seen one before, I am fairly certain I
saw a KENTUCKY WARBLER. The face mask was unmistakeable, but I only got a 2
second look at this bird and was unable to locate it again.
Other birds seen (2-3 of each, except where noted):
- OVENBIRD (7-10)
- VEERY
- WOOD THRUSH
- INDIGO BUNTING
- COMMON YELLOWTHROAT
- BLACK THROATED BLUE WARBLER (1 of these - landed on a tree less than 4
feet at eye level eating an inch worm before it flew off!)
- WHITE THROATED SPARROW (7-10)
- CATBIRDS (easily 5+)
- HOUSE WREN
Side note - at home on Wednesday morning I rounded out some missing migrants
from the day before: I got to see a BALTIMORE ORIOLE, 1 BLACK & WHITE
WARBLER, and heard many BLACK THROATED GREEN WARBLERS (trees, trees,
murmmurming trees).
