[va-bird] Re: Leonard's Pond Rockingham Co

All,
I had 5 species of shorebirds at a pond that I believe is called Leonards
Pond in Rockingham county.
Solitary- 5
Lesser Yellowlegs - ~7
Least Sandpiper 6
Spotted Sandpiper - 3
Killdeer ------------- several
Best bird though was an American Pipit seen standing in the water right next
to a shorebird. At first I thought it was a shorebird! Took a while to
reorient my thinking and come up w/ an id.
South River Falls in Shen National Park produced some nice Warblers including
Blackburnian and Chestnut-sideds but we aborted the hike early in deference
to the on-coming storm.
