This morning revealed the best migrant fall out this season in Ashburn,
Northern Virginia.
Highlights included Blue-headed Vireo, Red-eyed V ,Warbling V ( all
singing side by side in the same tree ) , Warblers : Yellow ( 3 )
,Chestnut-sided ( 2) ,Redstart , BT Blue (4) , Magnolia , C.Yellowthroat
,Ruby-crowned Kinglet (4) ,Veery ,Wood Thrush , Yellow-bellied Flycatcher (
ID confirmed by call ), Scarlet Tanager ,Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Balt.
Oriole (2 ).
Lastly the Cooper's Hawk pair successfully continue their nesting efforts.
I expect hatchlings in the next five days. The male bird " escorted me off
the premises " this morning and then proceeded to dispatch an unwary squirrel
.
As I write this e-mail , litterally hundreds of Yellow-rumps are erupting out
of the trees heading North.hopefully to be replaced with something different
tommorrow.
