<<Other highlight (for me) was about 12-15 Least Sandpipers which I could not
identify, but the birder who saw the Yellow-crowned Night Heron did and got
them in his scope for several of us. Didn't ask your name, but thanks again
for
all your help. >>
The name is Ben, ma'am. Glad to be of service.
For everyone else, I spent dawn and dusk at Huntley yesterday, and dawn at
the backside today. This morning, I too saw the ibis (flying it). Other
birds of note included:
loon (flyover)
bittern (flyover)
45 cormorants (flyover)
2 black duck
2 hummers
2 YB cuckoo
eagle
red-shoulder
25 gnatcatchers
20 red-eyed vireo
1 white-eyed
4 wood thrush
2 great crested
1 phoebe
2 Acadian
3 house wren
30 yellow-rump
20 yellowthroat
1 parula
3 blackpoll
1 B&W
10 ovenbird
1 blue grosbeak
5 bunting
1 rusty BB
1 orchard oriole
Yesterday, highlights were 7 species of shorebird (including snipe), veery,
northern rough-winged swallow, black-throated green, blue-winged, and yellow
warblers. I saw the bittern only in the morning, the night-heron only in the
evening. Barred owls heard on all three occasions.
Wish us luck on the Birding Dads Big Day tomorrow. Please send in all
scouting reports by 9 p.m., cause I've got to be up by 2:15.
