This morning in oaks behind my house in Ashburn ,I had a number of new
warblers arrive last night including an Orange-crowned which is a first for
me in Virginia on spring migration.Interestingly it was the all yellowish
celata subspecies , and yes it was an Orange-crowned and not a Tennessee
because of the yellowish undertail vent area. Other warblers were American
Redstart 5,Black-throated Blue 3 ,Magnolia 1 ,Blackpoll 6 , C.Yellowthroat 3
and N.Waterthrush 1.Also one nice male Red-breasted Grosbeak.
John Drummond,
Ashburn,Loudoun County.
