In spite of the cloudy weather, Monticello Park (in Alexandria) had some
good birds today. We were treated to the sight of 4 Scarlet Tanagers
simultaneously bathing. Later, a beautiful male Baltimore Oriole and a
Scarlet Tanager seemed to be playing tag. The list of other birds seen
between 11:30 and 1 pm:
Black-throated Blue: 1
Black-throated Green: 2
Magnolia: 1
Canada: 1
Chestnut-sided: 1
NO. Waterthrush: 1
Ovenbird: 1
Veery: 1
Swainson's Thrush: 1
Yellow Rumps: several
Blackpoll: 1
Indigo Bunting
plus the usual
