Birders:
Last evening I saw an estimated 475 chimney swifts entering a large chimney
at the Elkton Elementary School at Elkton, Va. Because the majority entered
in bunches over a ten minute span ending at 8:30 PM, it was difficult to get
a more accurate number. It was quite a sight to see the large number of
birds wheeling about in a large circle excitedly chattering in the darkening
skies.
