[va-bird] Thompson WMA, Fauq. Co, 5/3/02

VA BIRDers,
Although it was windy, on the lee side of the moutain Marc Ribaudo and I
found a few birds of interest although we were hard pressed to find some
obvious migrants. Most interesting bird today was a Brewster's Warbler Type
hybrid singing a Golden-winged song near the end of the earthen dam at lower
Thompson. Further up the trail as well as in the parking lot, only
Blue-wingeds were encountered. We also ran across good numbers of
Blue-headed Vireo and Rose-breasted Grosbeak, most were in the upper Thompson
areas. Ceruleans were intially a bit hard to find, but most were
concentrated along the down slope trails at parking lot #6 - perhaps due to
the wind. Below are the statistics for today's endeavors.
