[va-bird] Early Wood Thrush at Long Branch Nature Center?

Call me crazy, but at 2:10 PM today while I was working on invasive plant
control near the Long Branch Nature Center building, I heard a familiar song.
It
took me a moment to process "Wood Thrush - not supposed to be happening" and
then I heard one more repetition, this coming from somewhere behind the center
building, not terribly far away. By that point I was fully tuned in and waited
expectantly for more song so I could feel 100% confident in the ID - but no
more song came. So OK, the song was perfect Wood Thrush the way I heard it, but
I'd only say I'm 85% confident. Maybe somebody was walking in the park and
had a Wood Thrush ringtone on the cellphone ;-) .
Yesterday and today the Eastern Phoebes were calling in the vicinity, and
yesterday the Red-shouldered hawks put up a tremendous racket around
mid-afternoon. Now the crows seem to be zeroing in and actively harrassing the
hawks.
Cheers,
Steve Young
