A dreary morning at Occoquan NWR and kind of slow birdwise, but still a nice
walk. Highlights were:
- a flock of 23 horned grebes along Deephole Pt. Rd. All stages of molt
between winter plumage and breeding plumage were represented
- 8 Bonaparte's gulls
- a single Caspian tern
- a single great egret in the marsh along Charlie Rd.
- a young Cooper's hawk
- 2 American wigeon just east of the Gazebo
